Here is a very flavorful and versatile dip. You can make it with or without Harissa to change the level of spice. You can also add other herbs in its place to change the flavor. Dill or parsley would be great substitutes.
Ingredients
✓ 1 large onion, diced
✓ 4 cloves garlic, sliced
✓ 1 cup white beans, drained
✓ 1⁄4 cup tahini
✓ 1⁄4 cup (60 ml) water
✓ Juice of 1 lemon
✓ 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
✓ 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
✓ 1⁄2 - 1 teaspoon harissa, depending upon the level of spice that you prefer.
✓ Sea salt to taste
Instructions
Heat pan on medium, add onions and garlic, saute until slightly brown. Add water as needed to prevent it from sticking to the pan. Turn to low, heat for an additional 10 -15 minutes until onions and garlic are soft and beginning to carmelize.
While the onions and garlic are cooking, Place rest of ingredients into a high power blender.
Add onions and garlic to the beldner, mix all ingredients until smooth, add additional harissa and salt to taste.
Serve with crackers and vegetables. Also makes a great sandwich spread.
