Oatmilk Mexican Hot Chocolate

  • ✓ 2 tablespoons pure cocoa powder
  • ✓ ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ✓ ¼ teaspoon vanilla bean powder or vanilla extract
  • ✓ ⅛ teaspoon chili powder- I use smoked chipotle powder
  • ✓ pinch of sea salt
  • ✓ 2 tablespoons date syrup
  • ✓ 16 oz oat milk
  1. In a heavy bottom 2 quart pan add oat milk and bring to a gentle simmer.
  2. Add all the other ingredients and whisk until completely incorporated.
  3. Continue cooking on low heat, stir gently, to ensure that nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan, when you see that the chocolate becomes a rolling boil, remove from heat.
  4. Whisk again for 30 seconds, pour into your favorite mug and enjoy.

Frozen alternative

Allow chocolate to cool to room temperature, pour in ice trays and freeze. Add frozen cubes to a high speed blender with ½ cup oat milk. Blend on high until smooth, pour into your favorite glass and enjoy.
