Add the oats and water to a small saucepan.
Then add the cinnamon, nutmeg powder and chopped dates to the pan and mix everything well.
Heat the pan and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, while stirring the contents to avoid burning the mixture. Make sure to stir again as needed.
Once the mixture starts to boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for another three or four minutes or until the oatmeal is cooked and soft. Make sure to keep stirring!
Once the oatmeal porridge is cooked, allow it to cool down a little.
Adjust the consistency of your oatmeal porridge by adding more water if needed.
Add the chopped bananas and the toasted almonds, and serve.
You may also top it with more cinnamon powder if you like and the optional maple syrup.
