If you’re a fan of traditional hummus but have never tried a sweet hummus, now is the time to go for it! Chocolate snickerdoodle hummus makes a delicious summer snack paired with slices of fruit or spread on toast in the morning. There is no cooking involved so it is perfect for a hot summer. This recipe is adapted from the A Couple Cooks website.

  • ✓ 15-ounce can chickpeas (drained, but keep the liquid)
  • ✓ 1/2 cup almond butter (or peanut butter or tahini)
  • ✓ 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • ✓ 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • ✓ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ✓ 1/4 teaspoon salt
  1. Add all of the ingredients to the bowl of a food processor plus 2 tablespoons of the reserved chickpea liquid (aquafaba).
  2. Purée for about 30 seconds until smooth.
  3. Adjust sweetness by adding a bit more maple syrup. Adjust consistency by adding more aquafaba if desired.

Enjoy with apple or peach slices or strawberries.
